The Role
The Head of Corporate Medical Affairs Neuroscience TA is a critical position to ensure the creation of product specific clinical data that can support the value proposition of new compounds, the dissemination of scientific evidence on company’s R&D compounds (through Medical Publications and Educational activities). The role assures effective medical and scientific support in this therapeutic area by working with other Company Corporate Areas, company affiliates and partners.
The position will report to the Chief Medical Officer, member of the Board of Directors of the company.
What will the role do:
As Head of Corporate Medical Affairs of the Neuroscience Therapeutic Area (TA), you will lead the strategic development of the franchise.
Due to the nature of the TA, a vital part of the role will be to provide medical expertise to the study team during key activities related to clinical development plan, including clinical trial design and execution.
This includes:
- Defining the rationale, objective and design of global clinical development programs and studies.
- Representing Corporate Medical Department in the NPP working group, assuring the contribution on the accountable functions attributed to Medical the function, either by him/herself or by delegation to specific members of the team.
- Participating in the evaluation of potential new opportunities as well as candidates to enter a clinical development phase.
- Participate in the Safety Monitoring Committee for a specific Clinical trial when required
- Participate in the development of key documents such as protocol and clinical study report jointly with partners from the R&D Area.
- Support interaction with regulatory authorities.
- Be part of communication plans and activities for the programs and study results as co-author and direct contributor to the product publication plan.
You will also be responsible for the management of the franchise team, definition of the long term and mid-term strategy and goals for the Medical Advisors that are part of the team.
Monitoring and supervising the functions and activities will also be a central part of the role. This will involve defining and implementing the plans for the generation of scientific evidence and supervising the execution of medical activities of the strategic products of the company (as per the Brand Plans of the mature compounds).
You will assure effective budget allocation and resource management to provide the necessary support regarding medical needs of affiliates and partners to achieve annual objectives.
Build excellent partnerships with Corporate Marketing, Market Access, R&D teams, the NPP team and Regulatory, continuously working in a Matrix and cross functional approach.
Initiate and support high impact medical education activities, including digital and virtual options.
Identify and implement appropriate high-impact medical research projects. Collaborates with clinical operations to support the performance of clinical study feasibility, effective study implementation and ongoing management of trials.
You will represent the Company in scientific activities with internal or external key stakeholders and relevant medical groups.
Responsible for ensuring the performance of the team and the continuous upskilling and development of its members.
Educational & Key Capabilities:
- Medical Degree + Neuroscience background (at Master, PhD level and/or as Past Professional Experience)
- 4-5 years of experience in similar roles. Regional or global experience is a plus.
- Pharma Life Science business expertise.
- Previous Therapeutic Area experience in Neurological Disorders and in rare or orphan indications
- Previous experience in leading teams.
- Excellent command of English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to relate to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills as well as an ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing.
- Capability to work in a cross functional matrix mode
- Strategic and Analytical Skills.
